In a first, Pakistan beat Cambodia in FIFA World Cup Qualifiers

Pakistan  defeated Cambodia 1-0 on Tuesday, its first win in FIFA World Cup qualifying history.

Harun Hamid scored the winning goal for Pakistan in the 67th minute of the match.

The first leg  between the two teams ended in a goalless draw against Cambodia.

Star striker Otis Khan also did not attend the second leg because he had not received permission from FIFA.

It is worth noting that Khan was banned from  the first leg by FIFA, the tournament's governing body, which declared him ineligible despite holding a Pakistani passport.

Khan made his Pakistan debut against Mauritius in a friendly match in June last year. His eligibility depended on his  grandfather, Kanwar Jamil Mohammed Khan, who was born in Delhi but later moved to Pakistan after the partition of 1947, later settling in Manchester.

Before today, the last time Pakistan  hosted a FIFA/AFC World Cup qualifier was in 2011, when Bangladesh played at the Punjab Stadium.

Pakistan will now face Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Tajikistan in Group G in the second round  of the qualifiers.
