Hubert Hurkacz defied all odds to beat world number 7 Andrey Rublev to win the Shanghai Masters final after a brilliant treble in China. That moment. World No. 4 Jessica Pegula knocked out Yuan Yue to win her third Korean Open title of the year. Elsewhere, Leylah Fernandez defeated Katerina Sinikova to win the Canadian's first title in Asia.

Hubert Hurkacz surprised Andrey Rublev by winning the Shanghai Masters  with a thrilling 6-3 3-6 7-6 (8) victory.  The Pole prevailed after a thrilling third set to win against China, defeating the tournament's top 20 ranked player  in the final.

The world No. 17 broke Rublev's serve in the sixth game for the third time, taking a 4-2 lead and changing the first set's momentum in his favor.

The Russian did just that and broke Hurkacz's serve in the second game, before delivering the crucial serve for a 3-0 lead.

Rublev would level the final score in the ninth game with a comfortable hold, erasing the deficit and taking the match to a decisive third set. Neither player moved in the first serves of the third set, as Rublev did brilliantly to avoid match point in the 10th service game.

A tiebreak was imminent, and after Rublev failed to capitalize on his first match point, Hurkacz prevailed on the fourth match point to win  10-8 and secure a memorable victory.

“It was  a battle,” Hurkacz said. "Especially emotionally. I had a match point and Andrey hit an incredible serve, then he had a match point and then I had a couple of match points. It was back and forth and such a tough match.

"Andrey played some great shots. I was trying to react. It was one of those matches and I always believed and I'm extremely happy with how I did in the end.

“It's a great tournament and has a lot of tradition. It was a big  event and now I'm really happy.”
