Pakistan volleyball team coach Issanaye Ramires Ferraz - a Brazilian national - cried tears of joy after the Blue Shirt team defeated South Korea 3-0 to reach the quarterfinals of the 2023 Asian Games.

Pakistan faced South Korea on September 22 in the round of 16 and maintained dominance throughout the match. With a stunning victory, Pakistan qualified for the quarter-finals against Qatar.

A video of the Pakistani coach went viral showing Ferraz in tears. After this excellent victory, the Blue Shirt coach could not hold back  tears in an interview. He praised the players  for giving their all in the match.

"There's no direction to the win, you don't know what these guys are doing coming onto the field. It's very difficult, very difficult but we know it's possible," he said.

“For the level of  commitment of the athletes, for the level of dedication we have in our work, for the physical qualities they have,” he added.

“I achieved this result before with another team (Bahrain) in the Asian Cup and we knew what we had to do to win. They are very well focused to achieve this,” he said.

It should be noted that Pakistan won the match with  scores of 25-19, 25-22 and 25-21.

Usman Faryad and Murad Khan proved their worth with an all-round performance as the former scored 20 points while the latter contributed  18 points for the winning team.

Pakistan also consolidated its position in the top six  with a win over South Korea.

This is the first time since the 1994 Asian Games that a Pakistani team has confirmed its position in the top 6. Previously, Pakistan topped Group B with notable victories over  weak teams like Chinese Taipei and Mongolia.

The blue shirts defeated Chinese Taipei with a score of 25-18, 25-20, 25-19.

Meanwhile, against Mongolia, their winning scores were 25-17, 25-19 and 25-20.

Pakistan's biggest achievement in volleyball history at the Asian Games was third place at the 1962 Jakarta Asian Games. At the most recent Asian Games held in Indonesia in 2018, Pakistan was ranked eighth.  In the acharnés final, Qatar beat Pakistan  3-1 on Sunday (aujourd'hui).
