Babar Azam fined for violating traffic rules in Lahore | Bat N Ball
LAHORE: Pakistan captain Babar Azam was fined by traffic police on Monday for lack of driving license and lane violations.
According to traffic police, the captain of the national cricket team was fined Rs 2,000 on September 17 in Gulberg, Lahore.
Police officials said Babar was initially arrested for a lane violation, but after questioning, they learned he was driving without a license.
The national team captain is preparing to lead the Pakistan team in next month's Cricket World Cup in India.
The team is facing an uncertain situation due to visa delays by the Indian government. However, the uncertainty surrounding Pakistan's participation in the World Cup ended as India finally issued visas to the Pakistan team today, the International Cricket Council (ICC) said.
The ICC confirmation comes following complaints about delays in the visa issuance process.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has written to the governing body to complain about visa delays which they say have disrupted the team's preparations for the cross-border exhibition event.
“Visas have been issued to the Pakistan team,” an ICC spokesman told Reuters.
PCB spokesman Umar Farooq confirmed to Reuters that they had been asked to obtain passports from the Indian High Commission in Islamabad. India and Pakistan have suspended bilateral cricket due to tense political relations between the neighbors and only play each other in multi-team events such as the World Cup and Asia Cup.
