Pakistan hockey team beat Bangladesh to secure second victory in Asian Games | Bat N Ball

 

LAHORE: Pakistan hockey team on Tuesday defeated Bangladesh to register their second victory at the ongoing 2023 Asian Games  in Hangzhou, China.

 Facing Bangladesh in the second match in the group stage, the Blue Shirts were behind after Bangladesh took advantage of a corner kick to take an early lead in the 19th minute. Pakistan leveled the score 1-1 thanks to Afraz, who laid the foundation. foundation for Pakistan's 5-2 victory over Bangladesh.

 The men in blue used their advantage to bounce back with consecutive goals after Shahzeb Khan and Mohammad Imad found the back of the net in the 40th and 43rd minutes respectively.

 Bangladesh fought hard to reduce the lead and scored their second goal in the 46th minute. However, Pakistan's lead was consolidated when Sufyan Khan fired a quick shot from a corner, increasing the score to 4-2.

 The final shot came from Pakistan's pull-ball specialist Arbaz Ahmed, who executed a perfect pull-ball, scoring the fifth goal for the Blue Shirts.

 The blue shirt team will meet Uzbekistan on September 28. Previously, in the opening match, Pakistan overcame Singapore with an 11-0 win on Sunday.

 Pakistan's Ammad, Arshad Liaquat and Arbaz Ahmad scored two goals each. Mohammad Shahzaib Khan, Abdul Waheed Rana, Zikriya Hayat, Afraz and Abdul Rehman all scored the goals.

 The ongoing 2023 Asian Games features 12 hockey teams divided into two groups of six. Pakistan, along with India, Japan, Bangladesh, Singapore and Uzbekistan were placed in Group A.

 Group B includes South Korea, Malaysia, China, Oman, Thailand and Indonesia.
