Argentine legend Lionel Messi has once again proved why he’s regarded as the greatest of all time. The Inter Miami CF captain has officially won the 2025 MLS Golden Boot presented by Audi, finishing the Major League Soccer regular season with 29 goals — the most in the league.

In his second full MLS season, Messi also recorded 19 assists, leading Inter Miami to another strong campaign and securing their place in the Audi 2025 MLS Cup Playoffs.

⚽ Messi Beats Bouanga and Surridge to Top Scorer Title

Messi edged past Denis Bouanga (LAFC) and Sam Surridge (Nashville SC), who both scored 24 goals each.

This marks the first-ever Golden Boot for Inter Miami CF and makes Messi the first Argentine winner of the award since Valentín “Taty” Castellanos (New York City FC, 2021).

Messi’s final-day heroics — 3 goals and 1 assist in Miami’s 5-2 victory over Nashville SC — sealed his top scorer crown.

With a total of 48 goal contributions (29 goals + 19 assists) this season, Messi came just one shy of Carlos Vela’s MLS record of 49 contributions set in 2019 for LAFC.

Inter Miami have secured the No. 3 seed in the Eastern Conference, setting up a Round One Best-of-3 series against No. 6 Nashville SC.

The 2025 MLS Cup Final is set for December 6, where Messi and Miami will aim for the club’s first-ever championship.
