Pakistan's Babar Azam and Shadab Khan, along with West Indies wicket-keeper Nicholas Pooran, have been nominated for the ICC Player of the Month award for August.

  • Babar Azam is aiming to become the first men's cricketer to win three ICC Men’s Player of the Month Awards. He achieved this nomination after scoring 53 and 60 in the series against Afghanistan and a massive 151 against Nepal in the Asia Cup opener.

  • Shadab Khan, nominated for the first time, impressed with both bat and ball against Afghanistan and Nepal. He took crucial wickets in the series against Afghanistan and had a strong bowling performance against Nepal.

  • Nicholas Pooran, from the West Indies, is also in the running for the award after scoring 176 runs in five T20I matches against India, leading to a series victory. He was named Player of the Series and is the first West Indies nominee in the Men’s Player of the Month awards since February 2023.

For the ICC Women’s Player of the Month Award, the nominees are Ainna Hamizah Hashim from Malaysia, Arlene Kelly from Ireland, and Iris Zwilling from the Netherlands.

The nominees for both categories are selected based on performances throughout the calendar month. The final winner is determined through a voting process involving the ICC Voting Academy and fans worldwide. The ICC Voting Academy, consisting of prominent cricket figures, holds a 90% share of the vote, while fans registered with the ICC contribute the remaining 10%. Winners are announced every second Monday of the month on ICC’s digital platforms.
